The National Squad is for athletes who demonstrate ability or potential to succeed at a high level in International Championships. The squad consists of a High Performance level (HP), four development levels (A-D) and a synchronized category according to the ISA National Squad 2009-2010 Criteria (HPP-0907)

The National Squad Members (HP and Levels A-D) will be included in the ‘Australians Shine at Sochi’ (ASAS) Program. The ASAS Program’s aim is to deliver athletes to the Olympic Winter Institute for 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

The National Squad is conducted on a yearly cycle from one Australian Figure Skating Championships to the next. Athletes will be placed on a level based upon their National results, rankings or the level obtained within the previous season.  Levels will be adjusted throughout the competitive season with their final level confirmed on 15 April 2010.  Skaters qualifying in more than one squad level will be placed in the higher squad level.

National Squad Requirements

As a member of the squad, athletes qualify for financial assistance as stated in the National Squad Criteria (HPP-0907).  The amount of assistance will be based upon their final level as of 15 April 2010.  Athletes, coaches, parents and team managers are reminded that funding is subject to the terms and conditions as outlined in the National Squad Agreement (HPF-0908).

All of the requirements detailed in the National Squad Agreement and Handbook need to be met to ensure athletes' receive their national squad financial assistance.
